Don Williams was an American country singer and songwriter, born on May 27, 1939, in Floydada, Texas. He grew up in Portland, Texas, and initially became a member of a folk group before embarking on his solo career in 1971. Known for his smooth bass-baritone voice and imposing build, he earned the nickname "The Gentle Giant" of country music. In 2010, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Don Williams passed away on September 8, 2017.
