Donnie Joe Emerson is a musical duo from the small farming town of Fruitland, Washington. Their journey began in 1977 when their father purchased a tractor equipped with an AM-FM radio, exposing them to popular music for the first time and inspiring them to write and play their own songs. Encouraged by their father, Don Emerson Sr., the brothers recorded their music after he took out a bank loan to build them a recording studio. With the guidance of their high school music teacher, they self-released their album "Dreamin' Wild" in 1979. Despite lacking prior experience in the music industry, the album initially saw no commercial success until it was rediscovered in 2008 by record collector Jack Fleischer, leading to a reissue by Light in the Attic in 2012. That same year, artists Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland covered the song "Baby," followed by Ariel Pink in June, which helped introduce modern listeners to the duo's original work. In 2014, Light in the Attic Records released a new album that included previously unreleased material.
