Doris Day was an American singer, actress, and dancer, born on April 3, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She passed away on May 13, 2019, in Carmel Valley, California, at the age of 97. Day had hits in the 1940s as a vocalist and began her acting career in 1948, successfully balancing her movie career with her singing until the 1960s. She primarily recorded for the Columbia label. A devoted animal lover, after retiring from show business, she dedicated her life to animal welfare by founding the Doris Day Animal Foundation. She was also a mother.
