Dorothy Norwood is a Gospel singer, songwriter, and music producer born on May 29, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia. She began her musical journey at the age of eight, touring and singing with her family. In 1956, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where she collaborated with several notable artists and groups. Norwood launched her solo career in 1964 with her first album, "Johnny and Jesus," released on Savoy Records, which garnered her national attention and was certified Gold. She followed this success with the album "Denied Mother," which also achieved Gold status and earned her the title of "World's Greatest Storyteller." Over her 36 years in the Gospel Music Industry, Dorothy has recorded more than 40 albums, five of which have been certified Gold. Her 1991 album "Live with the Northern California GMWA Mass Choir" reached the Number 1 position on Billboard's Top Forty. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and citations, including six Grammy nominations.
