The Doubling Riders emerged from various new-wave and experimental folk groups in Italy during the early 1980s. Initially conceived as a mail-art project by Francesco Paladino, it featured multi-instrumentalist Pier Luigi Andreoni under the name F.P & The Doubling Riders, collaborating with international talent on their records. As the lineup evolved to include Riccardo Sinigaglia and became more stable, The Doubling Riders transformed into an unclassifiable, genre-hopping ensemble, positioning themselves at the forefront of Italian new music.
