Doug Goodwin, born Charles Douglas Goodwin on April 21, 1929, was raised in a musical environment, receiving private piano lessons. He served in the US Army Special Services in Korea during the early 1950s, where he played piano in the band. After his military service, he trained as a carpenter while developing his songwriting skills. His career in songwriting took time to flourish, but by the early 1960s, he gained recognition from William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, co-writing songs for their feature films "Hey There, It's Yogi Bear" (with Ray Gilbert) and "The Man Called Flintstone" (with John McCarthy). Most of his career was spent at the De Patie-Freleng animation studio, where he composed music for numerous cartoons, including The Pink Panther, The Ant & The Aardvark, The Inspector, Roland & Ratfink, The Tijuana Toads, and others.
