Downset (often stylised as downset.) is an American hardcore band from Los Angeles known for their fusion of rap and metal with punk hardcore. The group was formed in the early nineties by vocalist Rey Oropeza, guitarists Brian "Ares" Schwager and Rogelio Lozano, bassist James Morris, and drummer Chris Lee, following the demise of a hardcore punk band. They released their self-titled debut album in 1994 through Mercury Records, but Lozano departed shortly after. Their second album, "Do We Speak A Dead Language?", was released in 1996, and the band headlined the second stage of the Ozzfest Festival the following year. Lozano rejoined in the late nineties, leading to the release of their third album, "Check Your People," in 2000 via Epitaph Records. After touring for the album, the band experienced turmoil with members leaving and returning. By 2003, both Moore and Lozano had left, and Rico Villasenor joined as the new bassist. This lineup recorded their fourth album, "Universal," released in 2004 by Hawino Records. The band then entered a nearly decade-long touring hiatus. In 2013, Lozano and Lee revived Downset with a new lineup, featuring Neil Roemer on vocals, but this formation was short-lived. The original members reunited and recorded their fifth album, "One Blood," which was self-released in 2014,
