Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band is a disco band that originated in the Bronx, New York, in 1974. Known for their unique sound that blends the essence of a '30s jazz-swing band with witty lyrics, a disco beat, and lush arrangements, they became one of the most original ensembles of the disco era. Their notable hit, "Cherchez La Femme," helped them gain popularity. After releasing three albums, members left the group in 1979 to form an '80s dance band. The band released one final album in 1984. A member of the band reflected in 2021 that had it not been for his brother Stony, he would have remained a school teacher, as Stony's teasing about his job led him to join Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band as the bass player.
