Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band was a disco band formed in the Bronx, New York, in 1974. The group was known for its unique concept of re-creating a '30s jazz-swing band, incorporating witty lyrics, a disco beat, and lush arrangements. They achieved significant success with their hit "Cherchez La Femme." After releasing their third album in 1979, members left to form an '80s dance band. A final album by the Savannah Band was released in 1984. One member reflected on their journey, stating that had it not been for his brother Stony's encouragement, he would have remained a school teacher instead of joining the band as the bass player.
