Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band was a disco band formed in the Bronx, New York, in 1974. The group was known for its unique concept of re-creating a '30s jazz-swing band, featuring witty lyrics, a disco beat, and lush arrangements. They achieved significant success with their hit "Cherchez La Femme." After releasing their third album in 1979, key members left to form an '80s dance band. The Savannah Band released one final album in 1984. One member reflected in 2021 that he might have remained a school teacher had it not been for his brother Stony, who encouraged him to join the band as the bass player.
