Drowning Craze was a post-punk band formed in London from 1980 to 1982, initially featuring a New York-born vocalist who had moved to the city to study voice and musical theater. Although they were on the cutting edge of early-'80s British music, they are primarily remembered as a launching pad for musicians who later achieved greater success. The band's original vocalist, Jaeger, left after the release of their debut single, "Storage Case," to return to college, subsequently performing with various artists. The bassist became an important member of another band. After Jaeger's departure, Drowning Craze released their most notable single, "Trance," featuring the vocals of Frankie Nardiello (aka). This single was well-received, being named "single of the week" by British music magazines NME and Melody Maker. Unfortunately, the group disbanded by late 1982 before they could fully realize their potential.
