Dub Syndicate is On-U Sound's premier dub outfit, closely associated with the label since its inception. Emerging from the early Creation Rebel, the group is centered around drummer Style Scott, who was also the rhythmic force behind The Roots Radics, Jamaica's leading session and live band for deep roots music. Members of The Roots Radics frequently collaborated with Dub Syndicate, along with other On-U Sound players and singers. While often working with Adrian Sherwood, Scott occasionally explored collaborations with other artists, including Bill Laswell, and Dub Syndicate released two albums featuring Lee Scratch Perry. In addition to his work with the band, Scott ran his own record label, Lion & Roots. The group began exploring ambient and electro dub with their 1982 album, Pounding System, and continued to tour and produce records in various forms until Scott's passing in 2014.
