Durand Jones & The Indications is an American contemporary R&B and soul group from Bloomington, Indiana, formed in 2012 by singer Durand Jones, singer/drummer Aaron Frazer, and guitarist Blake Rhein. The band features the dynamic vocal interplay of Jones and Frazer, drawing inspiration from legends like Jackie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield, and the Impressions. Their sophomore album, "American Love Call," showcases a blend of early '70s soul aesthetics and modern urgency, contrasting with their self-titled debut, which was recorded for just $452.11, including a case of beer. The Indications approach songwriting with a diverse range of influences, akin to hip-hop producers, pulling from '70s folk-rock and classic R&B, as well as contemporary works like Nas’ "Illmatic." Jones reflects on their unexpected journey, stating, “Did I expect to do this shit once I got out of college? Hell no. Totally not. But this is what God is telling me to do – move and groove. So I’m gonna stay in my lane.”
