Dwain Vinyard, the son of noted Chicago vocalist George Vinyard, moved to Detroit shortly after the 1968 riots. Inspired by a performance from Bobo Jenkins in 1969, he began playing guitar and joined the Second Soulful Hounds. The band later transitioned to the Outcasts Band in collaboration with Ghetto Productions' Elwin Rutlidge, recording a few shelved tracks. Vinyard spent the next several years involved in various Detroit rock bands, including Hot Wax, You, and CSE1, but none achieved significant success in the studio. In 1979, he experienced a spiritual transformation and released the album "Searching For The Truth." Following this, he dedicated nine years to preaching to the homeless through his own Triumph Christian Ministry. Vinyard later ventured into the Detroit rap scene, with Irv Ski's 1989 album for D.I.S. records being the last to feature the Vinyard name.
