Dyke & the Blazers was an American funk and soul band formed in 1965 in Phoenix, Arizona. They are best known for their 1966 hit single "Funky Broadway," which was later covered with even greater success. Over the years, the band experienced numerous lineup changes, particularly in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when various musicians participated in several recording sessions. The band ultimately disbanded following the tragic death of bandleader "Dyke" Arlester Christian, who was shot to death in 1971.
