Ida E Os Voltas is a Brazilian band formed in late 1985 in Belo Horizonte's post-punk scene. The band was created by punk artist Ida Feldman and her father, Aron Feldman, a renowned 'gaúcho' marginal filmmaker who faced censorship during the Brazilian military dictatorship in the 1970s. After relocating from Santo André to Belo Horizonte, Ida met Bruno Verner, Aleca (A. de Alexandria), Frederico Pessoa, and Bernardo Rennó, who were longtime friends living in the same tower block. The band name, suggested by photographer Leca Kangussu during a night out at Complexo B, became well-known as they gained a strong cult status for their quirky live performances, candid poetry, and lo-fi, Casio-driven post-punk sound. Ida E Os Voltas remained active in the underground concert circuit until they disbanded in 1988.
