E'voke was a female vocal duo from the mid-1990s, comprising Marlaine Gordon and Kerry Potter. Both members attended the Sylvia Young stage school and later starred in the BBC sitcom "Us Girls." Marlaine also had a role in "Eastenders" from 1994 to 1995 as Lydia. Their debut single, a dance cover of Stevie Wonder's "I Believe," was released in 1994 on the FFRR label but only reached number 79 in the charts, although it gained traction in clubs. In late 1995, they released "Runaway," which achieved greater success, reaching number 30 in November. E'voke's biggest hit came in 1996 with "Arms of Loren," which was released on Manifesto Records and became popular in clubs and on the radio, peaking at number 25 in August. Following a period of inactivity, they attempted to release a cover of John Waite's "Missing You" in early 1998, but due to label issues, the release was delayed until early 1999, ultimately failing to chart. In 2001, a remix of "Arms of Loren" by Ferry Corsten was released, generating excitement and a promo video, though it only reached number 31 in January 2002.
