Earnest "The Voice" Jackson, Jr. (May 10, 1948 - December 6, 2023) was a singer, songwriter, and musician from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He began singing at the age of five and joined his first band, Little Earnest and the Tytans, at fourteen, where they covered R&B songs. Jackson wrote and recorded his first song, "Give Me Your Love," and later performed with bands such as Sugar Daddy and the Gumbo Roux, and Black Blood and the Chocolate Pickles during his college years. He is known for his gravelly voice, which he likened to that of Louis Armstrong. Despite his musical talents, Jackson never made a living from recording music and instead worked for 33 years at Pinetta's European Restaurant in Baton Rouge, where he was recognized as the "Singing Waiter."
