Eazy-E, born on September 7, 1964, in Compton, Los Angeles, CA, was an influential American gangsta rapper and producer. After dropping out of high school, he turned to drug dealing for a living. In the mid-1980s, he founded a rap record company, using profits from his drug dealings to recruit emerging rap talents. In 1986, Eazy-E began his rap career by forming Niggaz Wit Attitudes (N.W.A.) alongside Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, and others. The group quickly rose to notoriety, known for their explicit lyrics that celebrated urban violence, denigrated women, and advocated violence against police. Eazy-E's distinctive high-pitched voice became a hallmark of the group, which is now recognized as a pioneer of the gangsta rap genre. Following N.W.A.'s split in 1991, Eazy-E pursued a successful solo career, having released his debut solo album, Eazy-Duz-It, in 1988. His solo work often mirrored the themes of N.W.A., and he engaged in a notable feud with Dr. Dre, which inspired several anti-Dre lyrics. Eazy-E continued to manage Ruthless Records, producing new artists and making guest appearances on other rappers' albums. He passed away from AIDS on March 26, 1995, just one month after being diagnosed with the disease.
