E.C. Arinze (June 4, 1930 - March 23, 2015) was a Nigerian musician, trumpeter, bandleader, and composer known for his contributions to highlife music. Born in Ugamuma, Obosi, Anambra, he began his musical journey as a teacher before moving to Lagos in 1952. There, he started his career at the Empire Hotel in Idioro, performing with the Empire Roving Orchestra, which was owned by the hotel owner. Arinze remained with the orchestra until 1959, when he left to form his own band and performed at various clubs. He was also a pioneering member of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) Dance Orchestra, which was directed by various notable figures throughout its history.
