Eddi Santiago is a Puerto Rican salsa singer born on August 18, 1955. He is renowned as one of the main figures in "Salsa romántica" ("romantic salsa"). Santiago's career took off in 1984 in Puerto Rico and Latin America as a soloist, during which he formed his own band and recorded several popular songs, including "Tú Me Quemas," "Qué Locura Enamorarme de Ti," "Me Fallaste," "Antidoto y Veneno," "Tu Me Haces Falta," and his best-known hit, "Lluvia." His fame eventually spread to Europe and the United States, making him one of the most popular salsa singers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He has recorded for various labels, including Rodven, TH, EMI Latin, PolyGram, Universal, and Sony Music. In 1999, he released "Celebration: Epic Duets," a compilation album featuring other stars in the Latin music scene, which was recognized as one of the best recordings of 1999 by the National Foundation for Popular Culture. Santiago has earned both gold and platinum records, along with numerous other awards.
