Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater, born Edward Harrington on January 10, 1935, in Macon, Mississippi, was a renowned Blues singer and guitar player. He moved from Birmingham, Alabama, to Chicago in 1950, where he began recording in the mid-1950s for Atomic-H. Clearwater was known for his "joyous rave-ups" and was praised for his stunning soul fervor and powerful guitar playing. Blues Revue recognized him as one of the blues' finest songwriters. He passed away on June 1, 2018, in Skokie, Illinois, United States.
