Ahmet Edip Akbayram (29 December 1950 - 2 March 2025) was a Turkish rock singer, composer, and socialist, born in Gaziantep. He was the founder and soloist of Dostlar, one of Turkey's first rock bands. Due to polio contracted at nine months old, he developed a pessimistic outlook on life and faced various traumas and exclusions during his childhood. Throughout his artistic career, he experienced censorship and oppression due to his socialist beliefs. His paralysis in the right leg led to rejection by some groups and organizers, to which he famously responded, "I sing with my mouth, not with my leg!" Akbayram arranged folk songs by Turkish poets in psychedelic and progressive rock styles. He left a lasting legacy as a cultural figure who voiced the oppressed and challenged injustice through his music. A long-time smoker, he passed away from multiple organ failure due to complications from a fall.
