Greg Broussard, known as the Egyptian Lover, is a Los Angeles-based producer who has made significant contributions to the pioneering Electronic Boogie genre. His music began to emerge in the mid-'80s, with tracks like "Egypt, Egypt" becoming staples among club DJs, particularly in the break-dance scene. Early works such as "Computer Love" and "Dance" showcased his experimental approach, while his later material incorporated more vocals and melodic hooks, moving towards a rap influence. Although much of his work dates from this latter phase, his earlier releases are often regarded as his most accomplished and are frequently referenced by a new generation of producers inspired by the initial wave of electro, including Autechre and I-F. In addition to his solo work, Egyptian Lover was a member of Uncle Jamm's Army and has been the driving force behind several labels, including Freak Beat and Egyptian Empire. After a hiatus, he released a digitally edited compilation titled "Pyramix" and subsequently produced new tracks in the funky electro style for the album "Back From the Tomb." The Egyptian Lover Fan Club was previously located at P.O. Box 19301, L.A., Calif. 90019, but is now defunct.
