Eje Thelin is a Swedish free jazz group formed in the autumn of 1973. They have performed internationally, with concerts in countries such as France, Finland, East Germany, West Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, and the USA. The quartet focuses on improvisational music, fostering an intimate connection between the musicians and their audience. Their improvisation can range from fairly fixed foundations to more unconditional playing, guided by shared elements such as a melodic phrase, rhythmic figure, or timbre that serves as a reference point for the music's progression.
