Electribe 101 is a band formed by a group of musicians who came together in the late 1980s. The lead vocalist, originally from Hamburg, moved to Berlin in the Eighties to immerse herself in the city's vibrant music scene before relocating to London. There, she placed an ad in Melody Maker seeking a "soul rebel searching for a genius," which attracted responses from Joe Stevens, Les Fleming, Rob Cimarosti, and Brian Nordhoff. Under the management of Tom Watkins, known for his work with Pet Shop Boys and Bros, Electribe 101 signed with Mercury Records and released their debut single, "Talking with Myself," in 1988. The band's sound was described by journalist David Stubbs as "lush and sobely entrancing, the very shadow of soul." Their singles, including "Tell Me When the Fever Ended" and a re-released "Talking with Myself," charted in the UK around the dawn of the 1990s. Despite the promising trajectory, their support slot on Depeche Mode's World Violation tour did not yield the expected success. The band faced challenges, including criticism from their manager and negative reactions from some Depeche Mode fans. In 1992, Electribe 101 disbanded, leaving an unreleased second album behind. The band members went on to pursue different paths, with Billie embarking on a solo career. Many unreleased tracks from Electribe 101 were later re-recorded by Billie
