The Electric Prunes were a psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. They achieved their highest success in the US charts in 1966 with the hit "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night," which peaked at #11. In 1967, they released two albums: "The Electric Prunes: I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)" and "Underground." The band broke up in 1968 during the recording sessions for their third album, "Mass in F Minor," which was composed and arranged by David Axelrod and completed by session musicians and a Canadian band. A fourth album, "Release Of An Oath," was also released in 1968, again composed and arranged by Axelrod, with session musicians providing the music. In 1969, a different group of musicians recorded an album titled "Just Good Old Rock And Roll" under the name The Improved New Electric Prunes, as the name was legally owned by their producer. The original band re-formed 30 years later, touring in 2001 and releasing a new CD, "Artifact," and a DVD, "Rewired," in 2002. The classic line-up of the band is regarded as: Jim Lowe (vocals), James "Weasel" Spagnola (guitar), Ken Williams (guitar), Mark Tulin (bass), and Preston Ritter (drums).
