Electric Sandwich was a German progressive rock/jazz rock/hard rock/blues rock band formed by students in Bonn, Germany, in 1968. They were typical of many Krautrock bands of the era, drawing on a wide range of influences such as jazz, blues, and psychedelia, and creating their own fusion with a cosmic yet powerful edge. Initially, the band did not have a steady repertoire, and the choice of performed titles was arbitrary. After several lineup changes between 1968 and 1969, a stable lineup was established in 1970. In 1971, Electric Sandwich won a band contest, which garnered attention from record companies and led to the recording of their only album in 1972. As the band members completed their school exams, they became idle in 1974, with their last activities occurring in 1976. In 2003, the complete lineup from 1974 initiated a band revival.
