Elkin & Nelson, comprised of brothers Elkin (Javier Marin Velez) and Nelson (Leon Marin Velez), arrived in Spain from Colombia in the early 1970s and quickly established themselves in the Spanish music scene. They are known for fusing vibrant Latin songs with influences from James Brown, Santana, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and Jazz-Funk. Their success in Spain and Latin America led to several number one albums, including "Jibaro." The '88-89 Ibiza Balearic Beat scene saw DJs like Paul Oakenfold and Pete Tong re-discovering "Jibaro." Elkin & Nelson also collaborated on major hits with The Gibson Brothers, such as "Cuba," "Que Sera Mi Vida," and "Ooh! What A Life." Elkin is currently based in Mumbai, India, where he is involved in Bollywood.
