Elliot Goldenthal (born May 2, 1954) is an American composer known for his work in contemporary classical music, as well as film and theatrical scores. A former student of renowned composers Aaron Copland and John Corigliano, Goldenthal is celebrated for his distinctive style that blends various musical styles and techniques in original and inventive ways. He won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2002 for his work on the film Frida, directed by his longtime partner, Julie Taymor.
