Elmore James was an American blues singer and guitarist, born on January 27, 1918, in Holmes County, Mississippi. He passed away on May 24, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois. James was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 as an early influence. He had a son who followed in his footsteps and was a distant cousin of the person in whose Chicago home Elmore died.
