Else Marie Pade was a Danish electronic composer born on December 2, 1924, in Aarhus, Denmark. She participated in the Danish resistance movement during World War II and was interned by the Gestapo at Frøslev Camp in Denmark. Pade studied piano at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen. She worked at the studios of DR - The Danish Broadcasting Corporation, where she produced early groundbreaking electronic and concrete compositions. Despite her contributions, she was not recognized as a pioneer in her field until younger generations of electronic musicians rediscovered her work around the turn of the millennium. Pade passed away on January 18, 2016, in Gentofte, Denmark.
