Elton Dean was an English jazz saxophonist, known for playing the alto saxophone and saxello. He was born on 28 October 1945 in Nottingham, England, and passed away on 7 February 2006 in London, England. Dean was an initial member of a band alongside other musicians, one of whom later rose to fame and was inspired by Dean and another bandmate in the choice of his stage name.
