Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch is an award-winning French pianist and composer currently residing in London. Known for her work in film scoring, bespoke composition, and sound design, her music is characterized by high quality and meticulous craft, reflecting an elegant and instinctual approach to composition. She is signed to FatCat’s post-classical imprint 130701, with her debut album, ‘Like Water Through the Sand,’ set for release in November 2015. Born in Paris and raised in Bordeaux, Emilie studied classical piano from a young age. She developed a keen interest in composing her own music, leading her to begin recording as a teenager. In 2006, she moved to London to pursue a BA in music at Westminster University, followed by a Master's degree in composition at Goldsmiths, where she studied new complexity and spectral composition. During her studies, she worked for three years at the online electronic store Bleep, which exposed her to a diverse range of music. Emilie's film work includes a soundtrack for the 2010 short film Fifty, which earned her a BFI Future Film Award nomination, and she won the Best International Contemporary Music Soundtrack at the Garden State Film Festival for her score for Salt Grain. She scored her first feature film in 2012, The Sheik and I, directed by Caveh Zahedi, which faced controversy and was banned for blasphemy.
