Enrico Simonetti was an Italian orchestra director, renowned for his exceptional skills as a pianist and composer, honed through studies at the Accademia Chigiana. In 1948, he performed in some of the best nightclubs in Rome before moving to Brazil with an acting company, where he established a remarkable orchestra that rivaled the best local ensembles. In 1960, he was among the VIPs present at the inauguration of Brasília. He returned to Italy in 1963 to restart his career, serving as a musical director and participating in events such as the Festival di Napoli and Festival di Sanremo. Simonetti became a popular television personality with shows like "Lei Non Si Preoccupi," "Il Signore Ha Suonato?," and "Andiamoci Piano," showcasing an atypical, disenchanted style that marked his transition from orchestra director to a character in his own right. He maintained a unique approach on radio as well, ensuring high-quality orchestra performances and arrangements. Simonetti also composed scores for films and TV series, with his most notable work being the theme song for the TV series "Gamma," directed by Salvatore Nocita in 1975, which topped the 45 rpm chart for several weeks. He was the father of a musician and arranger and passed away in a Roman clinic due to complications following a common surgical operation.
