Eon, born Ian Loveday on September 22, 1954, was a legendary rave producer who passed away on June 17, 2009, due to complications from pneumonia. He gained prominence in the late 80s and early 90s rave scene with notable tracks such as “Spice” and “Fear the Mind Killer,” which bridged early techno and modern breakbeat. His music reached early 90s pirate radio stations in London and was released on vinyl through small labels like BAAD. Eon’s most recognized work came from the seminal album ‘Void Dweller,’ released in 1992, which featured the hit "Spice," famously sampling a hook from David Lynch’s film “Dune.” This album was one of the first major label releases by producers in the emerging rave scene, distributed by Columbia. Over the years, Eon released music on various labels, including Hooj Choons and XL Recordings. In 1993, he collaborated with fellow British acid pioneer Peter ‘Baby’ Ford, producing classic tracks like ‘Dead Eye,’ which was released as a single on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 label. Eon continued to release music under his Minimal Man moniker until shortly before his death. He performed live at venues like Fabric and on Radio One, and worked alongside producers such as Mark Moore (S’Express) and Marcus J Knight.
