Erasmo Carlos, born Erasmo Esteves on June 5, 1941, in Rio de Janeiro, was a prominent Brazilian singer, musician, and songwriter. He passed away on November 22, 2022. A key figure in the Jovem Guarda ("Young Guard") movement of 1960s Brazilian pop-rock, Erasmo frequently appeared on television, in magazines, and in feature films alongside fellow teen idols. His collaboration with singer Roberto Carlos stands out as the most successful partnership in Brazilian pop music history, both in terms of sales and re-recordings by various artists across Brazil. Together with Roberto Carlos, Erasmo wrote over 500 songs.
