Erick Cosaque (1951-2020) was a master of Gwo Ka, a musical and cultural practice from Guadeloupe that features traditional drums known as "ka," a form of singing called "chanté," and participatory dance. Beyond his musical talents, Cosaque was a contemporary griot and storyteller, dedicated to the preservation, reinvention, and politicization of Afro-descendant music in the French Antilles.
