Eric Mercury (Born: June 28, 1944 – Died: March 14, 2022) was a Canadian singer/songwriter and musician from Toronto, Ontario. Growing up in a musical family, he performed with groups such as The Pharaohs and Eric Mercury and the Soul Searchers during the 1960s. In 1968, he moved to New York to pursue a solo career. Mercury wrote songs for notable artists like Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, for whom he also served as a producer. He was involved in the stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar and appeared at the Millennium '73 event, which was intended to promote his career. Mercury had roles in the films The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh, where he played Rudy, the league commissioner, and American Hot Wax as Tyrone Blackwood.
