Erick Cosaque (1951-2020) was a master of Gwo Ka, a music and cultural practice from Guadeloupe that involves traditional drums, chanté singing, and participatory dance. More than just a musician, Cosaque was a contemporary griot and storyteller dedicated to preserving, reinventing, and politicizing Afro-descendant music in the French Antilles.
