Erik Hall (b. 1981 in Chicago) is an American multi-instrumentalist musician and producer currently residing in Galien, MI. He is recognized for his multi-instrumental solo recordings and live performances of contemporary classical works. Hall's 2020 re-creation of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians earned him the Libera Award for Best Classical Record, and his 2023 interpretation of Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato received a nomination in the same category. He has composed and arranged music for notable ensembles, including Chicago’s Grammy-winning Third Coast Percussion, NYC’s Grammy-nominated Metropolis Ensemble, and Sandbox Percussion, as well as for feature films. Hall has also recorded and toured with bands such as NOMO, Wild Belle, His Name Is Alive, and Lean Year, performing at major festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella, Pitchfork Music Festival, and Montreal Jazz Festival, as well as on shows like CONAN and The Tonight Show. Previously, Hall was a percussionist in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and studied music and audio engineering at the University of Michigan. As a producer and engineer, he has worked on records for Lean Year (Western Vinyl), Justin Walter (Kranky), and Bambi Kino Duo (International Anthem).
