Ertha Kitt was born on January 17, 1927, in North, South Carolina, USA. She was an accomplished actress, singer, and cabaret star, known for her unique heritage as the daughter of an African American and Cherokee mother and a White-American father. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Kitt was a prominent performer and was actively involved in social and political movements. Her outspoken views led to her blacklisting by President Johnson, which resulted in her working primarily in Europe and Asia. Ertha Kitt passed away on December 25, 2008, in Weston, Connecticut, USA.
