Essendon Airport was an Australian post-punk band active from 1978 to 1983, known for their exploration of experimental minimalist, electronic, and funk music. The group initially formed as an instrumental duo, an offshoot of an experimental music project, featuring Robert Goodge on guitar and David Chesworth on Wurlitzer electric piano, accompanied by a homemade drum machine. Over time, they expanded to a four-piece with the addition of drummer Paul Fletcher and a saxophonist, eventually becoming a five-piece with the inclusion of bass player Barbara Hogarth in 1982. The band reformed as a trio in 2003, performing intermittently since then, with original members Robert Goodge and David Chesworth, along with pedal steel guitarist. Subsequent performances have also included former members Paul Fletcher, Anne Sanger, and Barbara Hogarth.
