E.T. Mensah, often referred to as the "King of Highlife," was a prominent Ghanaian musician known for his significant contributions to the Highlife genre. He was born on June 27, 1919, in Accra, Ghana, and became a leading figure in popularizing Highlife music both in Ghana and internationally. His band, the Tempos Band, was influential in the 1940s and 1950s, blending traditional Ghanaian music with jazz and other styles. Mensah's music often featured themes of love, social issues, and cultural pride. He passed away on September 19, 1996.
