Etti Ankri, born on January 4, 1963, in Lod, Israel, is an Israeli singer-songwriter, guitarist, and pianist. Hailing from a Tunisian Jewish family, she is recognized for her unique blend of Sephardic and Mizrahi sounds with pop music. Her career took off with her 1990 debut album, "I Can See In Your Eyes," which achieved double platinum certification. In 2001, Ankri became baalat teshuva, embracing Orthodox Judaism, and this aspect of her faith is reflected in her more recent albums. In 2009, she released a critically acclaimed collection of the poems of Rabbi Yehuda Halevi, set to original music.
