Eugene Record was a US singer/songwriter, arranger, and record producer, born on December 23, 1940, and passed away on July 22, 2005. He was a founding member and the lead vocalist of the Chicago-based soul/funk group The Chi-Lites, performing with them from the 1960s until he left for a solo career in the mid-1970s. Record re-joined The Chi-Lites in 1980 but left again in 1988 to pursue a career as a gospel singer. Throughout his career, he wrote and produced many of the group's hits and also produced for other artists.
