Eumir Deodato is a Brazilian musician, composer, arranger, producer, and artist, born on June 22, 1942 (or June 21, 1943) in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He moved to the USA in 1967 and gained recognition for his production work and composition of TV and film scores between 1979 and 1982. Primarily rooted in jazz, Deodato is known for his eclectic fusion of big band and combo jazz with elements of rock/pop, R&B/funk, Brazilian/Latin, and orchestral music. His records are often categorized as pop/jazz or crossover jazz, with significant success as an original artist on keyboards during the 1970s. Over his career, he has produced or arranged music for more than 500 albums, collaborating with various acts and fellow Brazilian artists. Since 2011, he has been collaborating with the band in the live project Eumir Deodato & Euro Groove Department.
