Evelyn King is an American R&B/soul, disco, and funk singer and producer, born on July 1, 1960, in The Bronx, New York, and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is the sister of an undisclosed individual. At the beginning of her career, the name Evelyn King was considered "too grown-up," so she adopted the nickname "Champagne," originally having been nicknamed "Bubbles." Her father was a back-up singer for groups at Harlem's Apollo Theater. She was discovered while working as a cleaner. Evelyn King's biggest hit, "Shame," is regarded as an ultimate disco classic, entered the Disco Hall of Fame in 2004, and has been covered by various artists. Other classic hits include "Love Come Down," "Betcha She Don't Love You," "Don't Hide Our Love," and "Flirt." In 1982, she dueted with an undisclosed artist on "Can We Be Friends." Along with other artists, she contributed to the discofied version of the "Hair Musical," led by an undisclosed individual. Throughout her career, she has recorded twelve albums since 1977, working with various producers. Her comeback album, "Open Book," released in 2008, featured the hit "The Dance." In 2015, King formed a group originally with two unnamed individuals, releasing a single titled "Show Some Love" in 2015 before leaving the group in December
