Everything but the Girl is a music duo consisting of Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, who first emerged as pioneers in the lite-jazz scene in the early 1980s. Over the years, they refined their unique blend of jazz and electronica through eight studio albums. Their breakthrough came in 1994 with the collaboration on "Protection" and the hit album "Amplified Heart." The remix of their song "Missing" became a major hit in 1995 and remains popular today. Following this success, the duo shifted towards a more beat-oriented and club-focused sound, with Thorn contributing her vocals to various club tracks. In 2017, Watt's label took over the Everything But The Girl back catalogue, securing rights to most of their recordings. In 2022, Thorn and Watt announced their reunion and the recording of a new album set for release in 2023, marking their first new music in 24 years. The duo's name was inspired by a furniture store advertisement that stated, "For your bedroom needs, we have everything but the girl."
