EZ Rollers is a duo comprised of Jay Hurren and Alex Banks, who became prominent figures in the easy-rolling two-step genre of Moving Shadow Records during the late '90s. Their musical journey began in the mid-'80s within the rare-groove and hip-hop scene of East Anglia, where they promoted shows and DJed. As the rave scene surged, they also ventured into house music. While Banks focused on production in his home studio during the early '90s, Hurren continued to perform at events under the name JMJ. Their recording careers took off after meeting jungle pioneer L.T.J Bukem. Hurren and Banks initially recorded separately, with Banks involved in Hyper On Experience and Hurren in JMJ & Richie, as well as his solo project Parallel World. Their singles for Moving Shadow and Bukem's Good Looking, including "Montana" and "Universal Horn" as JMJ & Richie, and "Thunder Grip" and "Lords of the Null Lines" as Hyper-On Experience, helped establish the smooth drum'n'bass sound characterized by jazz textures and energetic rhythms. The formation of E-Z Rollers was solidified after Hurren and Banks connected with vocalist Kelly Richards at one of their gigs.
